It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Software Engineering Teaching Unit (SETU). As Sri Lanka’s pioneering state institution offering a dedicated Software Engineering Honours degree, our mission is to nurture competent, innovative, and ethically responsible engineers who can meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital world. Software Engineering Teaching Unit
The Software Engineering Teaching Unit (SETU), established in 2017, is dedicated to developing industry-ready software engineers with a strong grounding in engineering methods and scientific principles. As the only state university offering a specialized Software Engineering Honours degree in Sri Lanka, SETU delivers a rich mix of core and optional modules that blend computer science, engineering, and management. Students gain valuable real-world exposure through industrial training and student-centered activities that strengthen their practical skills and readiness for national industry demands. The program also allows students to specialize in one of six key domains: Net-Centric Applications, Mobile Computing, Data Science and Engineering, Health Informatics, Digital Gaming and Animation, and Business Engineering.
